Private art lessons: Recent classes

This is a photo from a recent private art lesson which was given in my home studio. We worked on composition, colour mixing, palette knife techniques and how to paint water.
A photo from a recent private art lesson given in the client’s home in Essex. It was such a lovely day, so we painted outside. I gave a short painting demo and went through the materials. The lesson went over perspective, composition, toning the canvas, palette knife techniques and colour mixing.

I’m back on Twitter!

I’m back on twitter with a new profile. I was taking a hiatus from social media, but with fresh ideas and more energy I am back to sharing my work and upcoming events. Twitter and Instagram are both another great way to connect with me and get updates. I will still be doing blog posts as well. See you on Twitter!

Trying out frames

These just came back from the framers. The painting size is 6 x 12 inches, framed size is 8.5 x 14.5 inches.
I have to get used to seeing my work framed, but I am coming around to it.

News: I’m on YouTube

Hello all!  I hope you have been enjoying the short videos that I have been sharing recently.  I have created a YouTube channel where I will post longer videos of painting demos, explanations of materials and step by step instruction.  You can also subscribe  to the channel and get updates when I post a new video.  Right now, I only have one video up, which is a longer and slightly slowed down version of me painting in the woods.  It is still worth a look I think.  The videos will also be posted here on this blog. Any suggestions for videos you’d like to see?  Please leave a message via my contact page or email me at info@hwdixonfineart.com.  Enjoy the video!
