Painting process: Lilies, peaches and a patterned cloth, 24 x 24 inches

I recently received a batch of new cradled panels from my Father-in-law. I was very excited because I have had some ideas swimming around in my mind waiting to be immortalised in paint. I bought some wonderful lilies from Aldi last week and I wanted to put a pattern on a periwinkle coloured cloth I have. Yesterday evening I got everything set-up and began working.

Above is my sketch and my set-up. the colour I mixed for the sketch was a bit dark but I went with it anyway. I just had to let it dry a little before blocking in the colour so that it wouldn't taint my mixes.

Almost done! The white cloth and shadows are looking great and I have started working on the peaches (my favourite part).

Painting completed: Lilies, Botanical Fabric w/ plums

Here is the finished painting. The lilies have some movement in them and the plums look so yummy. The fabric has become one of my favourites, I have used it a couple times recently. I think it has to do with the teal colour in the leaves contrasting with the red-orange petals, lovely.

The cloth has the pattern painted in very loosely. I will add more paint and details later on.

The background, leaves and stems are done so now I begin painting on the lilies using a palette knife.

Working from the darkest parts of the flowers towards the lightest parts. Now it's ready for some details.

The lilies are complete. I saved some paint from the background and the cloth, with this I finished the vase. This is where I stopped last night. I could have kept going but I didn't want to get sloppy as I began to get tired. I will continue in a few hours.
