New work: Cowslips

My most recent painting:
“Cowslips in a rice bowl”
oil on board
12 x 12 inches
Cowslips close-up
bowl close-up

Recent painting: Spring Sunday

Above: ‘Spring Sunday’ oil on cradled panel, 30 x 30 inches– I have recently been working on a large still life painting filled with various subjects.  All in all it took me 4 days to complete, working an average of 6hrs a day.  It was very hard work and it took a lot of energy to finish. Moving forward, I will be working to the ‘less is more’ model!  Regardless, I am very happy with how it came out. I think doing detailed ones like this every so often will be fine.

New work: Small fun pieces

I had some little bits of paint left over on my palette.  I don’t like to waste paint and these blobs would have dried before I painted my next piece.  I have some 8 x 10 inch canvas boards around for occasions like this and decided to have some fun with Autumn bouquets and stripes.  They are for sale, if anyone is interested. They sell for £250 each(unframed) which includes p&p within the UK and worldwide. Please contact me for further info.

“September bouquet”, oil on canvas board, 10 x 8 inches, £250 (unframed)
“September bouquet with figs” oil on canvas board, 8 x 10 inches, £250 (unframed)

The underpainting looks pretty close to what the finished painting will look like. I really enjoyed painting all the different blues.

I finished this in two days. Without all the details of other vases and plates, I was able to focus on fewer elements. I enjoyed the simplicity. I will take a break this weekend and find more inspiration.
