In my studio: Floral still life with fruit and veg

I have been working on this painting for about four days. Here is the condensed version of the process. Above is the underpainting.

I'm halfway done at this point. My fruit and veg set -up is looking a bit wilted and dried out.

I managed to switch out a few fruit and veg with fresher replacements. Even though I was very tired towards the end I finished the painting.

What’s drying in my studio: Magenta Lilies with Black Cherries

To finish off the painting, I started with the doily then the bowl of cherries.

The blue/periwinkle cloth was next. I did that first instead of the remaining fruit and birds eggs. When rendering those objects I will tie the surrounding colour in as reflecting highlights and it helps to reshape things if I mess up.

Here it is! The colours are so bold in person and the gold paint sets it of nicely. I will do a similar smaller painting because I am addicted to this gold paint!

In my studio: More progress, large still life w/ gold

It is time to paint the lilies! Last night I started with the leaves and closed pods then moved onto the blooming flowers.

With a variety of pinks, reds and deep magenta I fill in the large lilies with a palette knife. The details will be added later.

I’m on a roll! Magenta and tangerine- 30 x 30 inches on cradled panel

I just had to use those lilies in something else, they were practically begging to be painted again.  So I went with a magenta and orange theme with blue and teal accents in the cloth.  A daring colour combo but I wanted to paint something bold.  I set the still life up last night before dinner.  I was supposed to paint the next morning but I couldn’t wait!  I was only going to sketch it in but once that happened there was no stopping me.  I finally came to a stopping point at around 5am!  Here are some pics:
